Roof replacement under solar
New roof going on? We'll take the system off and put it back right.
A roof replacement under an existing solar array is a coordinated job: the system has to come off safely, come back on correctly, and produce like it did before. OnForce Solar handles the full detach, storage, and reinstall for commercial rooftops, carports, and ground mounts — working around your roofer's schedule.
Commercial systems in New York, New Jersey & Connecticut. Servicing solar since 2008.
Why owners call us before a reroof
- The roof is being replaced and the array is in the way
- Your original installer is out of business and the roofer won't touch the solar
- The roofer requires a solar-trained crew to detach and reset the system
- You want the array off safely — not cut free — so it can be reused
- Flashings, mounts, or wiring need addressing while the roof is open
- The system must pass inspection and produce again after the reroof
What the service covers
The array is de-energized, disconnected, and removed safely — modules, racking, and conduit — with no damage to the equipment or the structure.
Equipment is palletized, protected, and stored for the duration of the roofing work, insured and tracked.
We coordinate sequencing with your roofing contractor so penetrations, flashings, and curb work are done once, correctly.
We reinstall on the new roof, replace worn mounts and flashings, test every string, and verify production is back to expectation.
We handle permitting and inspection requirements and deliver a completion report with photos and test results for owners and insurers.
How a removal and reinstall works
- 1Call with the site address, roof age, and your roofer's timeline — we review the system and quote the job.
- 2We schedule the detach around the reroof, de-energize, and remove the array with secure storage.
- 3Your roofer replaces the roof; we stay in the loop on sequencing and penetrations.
- 4We reinstall on the new roof, replace degraded hardware, and upgrade flashings where needed.
- 5Every string is tested, the system is commissioned, and you receive the completion report.
Common questions
Do you reinstall systems your company didn't install?
Yes. We detach and reinstall systems installed by other contractors all the time, including systems whose original installer is out of business.
How long does the system stay down?
Typically the array is down only for the roofing work itself — days to a few weeks depending on the roof. We time the detach so production loss is as short as possible.
Can we upgrade equipment while the system is down?
Yes. It's the natural window to replace aging inverters, worn optimizers, or damaged modules — and to file manufacturer warranty claims on anything still covered.
Does the reinstall come with a warranty?
Yes. Our detach and reinstall work is warranted, and we document the system's condition before and after so there's no dispute about what happened during the reroof.
