Inverter not working / inverter error
Solar inverter down or throwing an error? We'll get it back online.
A failed inverter stops production for every panel behind it. OnForce Solar troubleshoots string and central inverters on commercial systems, fixes what can be fixed on site, and — when the equipment is covered — handles the manufacturer warranty claim and replacement for you, end to end.
Commercial systems in New York, New Jersey & Connecticut. Servicing solar since 2008.
Signs your inverter needs service
- Red fault light, blank display, or an error code on screen
- Inverter shows offline or zero output in monitoring
- Inverter repeatedly trips or restarts during the day
- Ground fault, arc fault, or isolation alarms
- Clicking, buzzing, burning smell, or overheating
- One inverter producing far less than the others
What usually causes it
Damaged wiring, water intrusion, or a failed module creating a path to ground that shuts the inverter down for safety.
Voltage or frequency out of range, tripped AC breakers, or a utility outage that left the inverter locked out.
Failed fans, capacitors, boards, or IGBTs — common on inverters past year 8 to 10.
Blocked vents or hot equipment rooms causing derating and thermal shutdowns.
How an inverter repair works
- 1Call or send the error code and site address — we review alarms and monitoring remotely first.
- 2A technician is dispatched with likely parts and isolates the fault at the inverter, DC, and AC side.
- 3We repair on site — or, if the unit is under manufacturer warranty, we document the failure, file the claim, and install the replacement. You never have to call the manufacturer yourself.
- 4Production is verified and you receive a report with photos and test results.
Common questions
Do you work on all inverter brands?
Yes — we service all major commercial inverter manufacturers, including SMA, SolarEdge, Fronius, Sungrow, Huawei, ABB, Schneider Electric, Yaskawa Solectria, Chint Power Systems, Ginlong Solis, Enphase, and Delta, plus legacy commercial fleets from Advanced Energy, Satcon, PV Powered, GE, and KACO. Tell us the model when you call and we'll confirm.
Can you handle the warranty claim?
Yes. Manufacturer warranty coordination is part of every repair: we pull diagnostic logs, capture the photos and test readings the manufacturer requires, file the claim, track the replacement, and install and commission the new unit.
What does your manufacturer warranty service cover?
Inverter warranty claims (standard and extended), plus module, optimizer, and monitoring-equipment warranties. We also track what on your system is still under warranty — useful if your original installer is out of business — and can keep that record current under a maintenance contract.
Is it safe to reset the inverter myself?
A single restart per the manufacturer's manual is usually fine. Repeated faults, ground fault alarms, or burning smells need a technician.
